Sacral pieces of art of great historical value
|
|
The diocese museum Limburg owns the most important collection of art between Cologne and Frankfurt am Main. The museum building situated on the path to the Cathedral presents not only the Cathedral treasury but also a permanent exhibition of witnesses of faith and sacral pieves of art from 12 centuries. Paintings by Hand Holbein the elder or Rokokokelche belong to this collection as well as mediaeval busts or a newer altar bread baking iron. The most valuable exhibition piece is the Dernbach Lamentation, a group of figures from the International Gothic period.
